Waste Management is looking for a qualified Warranty Manager to join our dynamic team.  As a Warranty Manager, you will develop a comprehensive, standardized warranty recovery process for Waste Management at the field level. Acts as the voice of Waste Management on Warranty matters. This position will require extensive travel throughout the Western PA, West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia areas.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Other minor duties may be assigned. 

  • Works with IT department to develop and implement a web based warranty management system.
  • Reviews warranty data, understands failure modes, and develops corrective action plans for high failure rate components.
  • Develops comprehensive cost effective warranties for Waste Management.
  • Develops processes to help identify warranty opportunity within Compass, the WM fleet management database.
  • Builds and implements a nationwide Warranty Recovery Training Program directed toward Fleet Managers and Technicians.
  • Visits OEM manufacturing plants to review WM equipment, builds quality and helps ensure that our specifications perform as expected.
  • Instructs Fleet Managers on warranty coverage and recovery, and assists Fleet Managers in discussions with local OEM dealers on warranty issues.
  • Sets warranty recovery goals applicable to all sites based on equipment age and replacement parts usage.
  • Builds a warranty calculator to assist warranty budgeting at the site level.
  • Collects monthly and quarterly warranty recovery data and creates reports for senior management at the Corporate and Group level.
  • Attends OEM warranty training for certification and to enter warranty claims on behalf of Waste Management.
  • Provides purchase recommendations to WM senior management based on the level and quality of warranty and goodwill support from chassis and body OEM’s.

A.  Education and Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • Experience: Seven years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)

B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Microsoft and Lotus Office
  • Self-Starter with strong communication skills.
  • Working financial knowledge.
  • Process oriented Team Builder.
