  1. Job Description

Waste Management, is seeking a I-Series(AS400) Developer who will be responsible for the development and maintenance of I-Series applications. Your primary focus will be development of new functionality based on business requirement and developing new programs to execute various types of data update in system.  Therefore, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creating quality products is essential.


II.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop and maintain applications on the iSeries platform.
  • Provide operational support to system build in iSeries(AS400).
  • Understand the business requirement from Business Users and convert those in technical design and implement in iSeries(AS400) system.
  • Must have historical and proven knowledge and practical application of AS400.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge and skills in RPG IV, ILE. 
  • Must have strong knowledge in AS400, CLP, and Embedded SQL. 
  • Thorough knowledge of development tools for on-line and batch environments. 
  • Must have expertise in SQL,DB2 and should be able execute complex SQL queries.
  • Demonstrate sharp, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

IV.  Qualifications

A.  Education and Experience

Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or similar area of study.  Minimum of three (3) to five(5) years of previous experience required.

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritize simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards
  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
  • Ability to assess the impact of new requirements and all upstream and downstream applications, systems, and processes
  • The candidate should be able to both dive deep as well as see the broader picture and analyze impact.
